A ‘disturbance’ erupted in the street involving ‘men in balaclavas’ before a car was driven at a man on Sunday evening (July 28).

Police were called to Hereford Road in Brinnington at around 5.15pm to reports of the disturbance breaking out in the street. Residents reported that those involved were wearing balaclavas.




Amid the escalating scenes, a car was then driven at a man before speeding off from the scene. The victim, aged 62, was rushed to hospital for treatment with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

A large scene was put in place across the residential area amid investigations, to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

One resident said they saw a man ‘flying over the bonnet’ of the car which failed to stop and fled from the scene. An internet box and part of a garden wall was also knocked over. Police have confirmed the car was involved in the disturbance and that enquiries suggest it had been driven at the victim.

Pictures from the scene on Sunday evening show a large cordon in place with a number of police vehicles in attendance. Officers could be seen conducting door to door enquiries.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At 5:10pm this evening we were called to reports of a disturbance on Hereford Road in Brinnington.
