In view of the forthcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024, a coordination meeting cum Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) Demonstration for Sector Officers and Sector Commanders was held on 29th February 2024 at DC Conference Hall, Chümoukedima.
According to DIPR, Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) and ADC, Chümoukedima, Dr Kuzonyi Wideo and ADC, Medziphema, James Swu highlighted the rules and responsibilities of Sector Officers and Sector Commander. They informed the officers to coordinate with each other and directed them to physically visit their respective polling stations and ensure that they have all the facilities for conducting the voting process smoothly and asked them to be well equipped with the handling of the EVM.
Further, they requested the officers not to skip any training related to election and directed the officers for friendly infrastructure accessibility for PwDs and senior citizens and plan for separate entry and exit at the polling stations for them. They also informed them to submit a report before 5th of March, if there are any infrastructure issues or any other election related issues.
The meeting also had discussions on topics of election activities, election management plans, route mapping, vulnerability mapping etc. While, the SDO(C) Chumben Murry demonstrated the EVM set and functioning of each unit and shared the necessary information of EVM in details. He also informed the officers interested on hands on demonstration can come at any day and learn that is set up at DC & DEO Office, Chümoukedima at election branch.
