In connection with the ensuing General Election to the 18th Lok Sabha, 2024, a coordination meeting cum EVM Demonstration was held with the Assistant Returning Officers, Sector Officers and Sector Commanders at DC’s Conference Hall Kohima on 14th February 2024, DIPR informed.

At the coordination meeting, Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant, IAS emphasised the roles officers as the most important personnel for the Election Commission of India for the ensuing Lok Sabha election and urged the Sector Officers and Sector Commanders to align with each other and work together for smooth conduct of the election. He asked the officials to familiarise themselves with their respective jurisdiction and to visit their sectors to identify if there is any element that may hamper the election process and work out the mechanism to build confidence among the voters.

The DC also requested the officials to make sure that power line connection, running water, toilets and facilities for the PwDs are in place at the polling stations before the polling process and also asked them to be well equipped with the handling of EVM. Ramnikant urged the officials to take the responsibility very seriously and submit the reports time to time to their concern Assistant Returning Officers and also remarked that no exemption from the duty shall be entertained at any cost.

District Level Master Trainers (DLMT) Er. Imsunger, EE, CE PWD and Pikato Jimmo, Dy. Director, Directorate of Agriculture highlighted the right way of handling and operating Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) respectively. The hands-on demonstration of EVM were also conducted with the officials.
