Police have arrested a man following reports of a car on fire in Londonderry.

Officers received reports of a vehicle alight at approximately 11.20pm on Saturday in the Great James Street area.

A vehicle had been set on fire causing significant damage after a window was smashed and an accelerant was thrown inside.

A further attempt to set a campervan alight in Clarendon Street was made, resulting in its window being smashed, and the window of a car in Princess Street was also damaged.

A 31-year-old was arrested on suspicion of a string of offences including two counts of arson, criminal damage, possession of class B drugs and possession with intent to supply class B’s

He has since been released on bail to allow for further enquiries to be carried out.

Sergeant Pritchard said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed any of these incident or to anyone with CCTV or other footage that could assist with the investigation is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1785 01/03/25.”
