A couple believe a ghost has taken a liking to their flashy “sports car” after they spotted spooky footage on CCTV – and think that the “ghoul” even moved their car keys
A couple claim that a
likes their Audi TT – and even tried to steal the keys.
They claimed CCTV footage captured the supposed ghoul trying to “steal their sports car” two nights in a row. On March 10, Laura and Darren Smith were looking for their car keys, and decided to check their CCTV footage in case they were dropped outside.
To their surprise, they saw a “white figure” lingering around the sports car for 10 seconds before “floating” away. The 45-year-old thought it was her dead mum visiting her on Mother’s Day.
However, when the mysterious figure returned the following night, she feared it was a spirit who had “taken a liking to” their flashy Audi TT. A second clip shows the white patch float down to the driver’s side door again before moving towards the rear as if it “got inside”.
Darren’s car keys were found in Laura’s handbag, yet neither recall putting them in there, and she claims to have checked there twice before – leaving them to believe it was the “ghost” returning them.
Laura, who has been left scared by the clips, claims Darren even feared driving the car that Sunday in case the spirit was sitting waiting for him in the rear seats. The arcade worker, from Kent, shared the footage to Facebook.
Social media users were convinced the couple captured a ghost on camera. While some claimed it was a bug on the lens, one user even warned the baffled pair to sell the car amid speculation the ‘ghost’ wanted to steal it or had owned it when they were alive.
Laura said: “It was raining so Darren went through all the different videos to see if he’d dropped the keys outside or if he’d left them in the car. That pops up and it really spooked him. I told him not to be stupid but then when I had a look I thought that’s definitely a ghost.
“I lost my mum a year ago in January so I thought it was her and that it was lovely for her to come round on Mother’s Day. When I saw it again on Monday morning I thought ‘if that was my mum she wouldn’t be round my husband’s car and she wouldn’t come back’.
“It didn’t add up and that was quite scary because I don’t know what it was. It was like someone trying to break into the car or stop us from using the car. The land used to be all fields between here and the abbey so maybe it’s a monk.
She added: “Darren was petrified to use the car on Sunday and when he went out he was looking over his shoulder. The car keys ended up in my handbag that I’d checked two times before. I think the ghost put it there.
“Some people think it’s a woman in white, some think it’s a monk. Some people think it’s a spider but it doesn’t have any legs.”
The mum-of-five’s Facebook post has been viewed more than 5,000 times. One person commented: “I totally see it. It’s amazing. It seems interested in the white car. Is it connected to anyone that passed by any chance?”
A second said: “This is a very clear camera. Not a spider’s web. Whoever it was, they loved the car. Looks like they got in.”
