Mumbai News Live Updates, June 16, 2024: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Sunday predicted light to moderate rainfall in Mumbai and suburbs, accompanied by generally cloudy skies over the next three-to-four hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 34 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively. Two days ago, the weather agency had issued a yellow alert for Mumbai and its neighbouring districts and said the city will experience thunderstorms and lightning, along with showers, over the next two days.

Meanwhile, with monsoon on the cards, the cash-rich Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has earmarked a total of Rs 545 crore, which will be used for multiple works including filling potholes and carrying out resurfacing work of the existing roads of Mumbai during rains this year. The fund that has to be spent this year is also nearly 36% more compared to last year, when the BMC had spent nearly Rs 400 crore for filling 70,000 potholes during monsoon.
A day earlier, addressing the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) Opposition alliance press meeting in Mumbai, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray said ,”This was a fight to save the constitution and democracy. This government was the Modi government and now it has become the NDA government. Now it is to be seen how long this government will last.” This is the first press meeting after the Opposition bloc put up a commendable performance in the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra by winning 31 out of the 48 seats in the state.
