A network of electric vehicle chargers will be installed across Bury.
The move is part of a Greater Manchester scheme aiming to provide thousands of charging points across the region.
The chargers will be placed in locations where residents lack a driveway or dedicated parking space, making it difficult to run charging cables into their homes.
The number and location of sites in Bury will be developed with the successful contractor to ensure a suitable electrical connection.
Community consultations will take place when potential sites are found.
Cllr Alan Quinn, cabinet member for the environment, operations, and climate change, said: “We know that transport is responsible for a significant amount of carbon emissions, but we need to make it easier for people to move to greener vehicles.
“These plans will encourage that shift, and help to improve our environment and air quality.”
