Agartala April 06: In preparation for the ensuing Lok Sabha and by-election to the Ramnagar seat, the Returning Officer and DEO Dr Vishal Kumar inspected the final commissioning of the EVM and VVPATs at the Umakanta Academy premises on Saturday.
Mentioning that the EVMs and other poll materials are kept in reserve at the UK Academy, Dr Kumar said that there are a total of 793 polling stations in the West Tripura district for which 1000 EVMs have been made available by the election commission.
“Out of this, 25 percent EVMs will be kept reserved for emergency situations during the polls”, he said.
For the Ramnagar by-elections where people of that constituency will cast votes for Lok Sabha polls as well, two EVMs will be deployed at each polling station, allowing the voters to cast their ballots smoothly.
Outlining comprehensive measures to ensure a smooth and secure electoral process, the Returning Officer also highlighted that the micro observers are undergoing special training for ensuring peaceful election procedure.
