A stretch of a busy road in Stockport was blocked this morning after a crash.

The crash between a car and a motorbike happened at around 7.40am on Marple Road in the Offerton area. Police and paramedics were on the scene, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed.




Part of the road, near the junction with Hillcrest Road, was blocked off. It has not yet been confirmed whether anyone has been taken to hospital.

Traffic was being diverted away from the area, as well as some bus services. Stagecoach said in a post on X: “314/358/383/384 Due to a police Incident on Marple Rd/Hillcrest Rd services diverting via Dialstone Lane/Lisburne Lane both directions until further notice.”

The North West Ambulance Service has also been contacted for a comment.

Road cleared

According to traffic alert service Inrix, Marple Road is now clear.

Traffic has returned to normal in the area.

Marple Road remains blocked

The road remains blocked both ways.

Police officers remain on the scene.

Road blocked between Montagu Road and Lisburne Lane

According to traffic alert service Inrix, Marple Road is blocked in both directions Montagu Road to Lisburne Lane.

Stagecoach bus services diverting

The Stagecoach 314, 358, 383 and 384 services are diverting via Dialstone Lane/Lisburne Lane in both directions.

Marple Road blocked

A stretch of Marple Road is blocked near the junction with Hillcrest Road.

Police and paramedics are on the scene.
