AGRA: Suspicions of electoral malpractice have prompted supporters of the INDIA bloc and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) to establish vigilance camps outside the strongroom in which EVMs are stored in Muzaffarnagar, despite existing heavy security measures.

Following the polls on April 19, both factions stationed themselves near the Naeen-Mandi strong room to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. Each party has assigned guards around the clock, reflecting the intense competition in the political landscape. BSP workers, expressing their distrust of the govt, vowed to maintain vigilance until the counting day on June 4.

A BSP worker, part of a 10-man team guarding the EVMs, said, “There is a risk; we do not trust this govt. We will be on guard until the counting is done. Five men will be on alternate day and night shifts.”

Meanwhile, Chaudhary Glodi Ahlawat, Samajwadi Party’s district general security officer, reiterated the party’s commitment to oversight. “We have installed our vigilance camp and are guarding the EVMs. Our party is ensuring transparency without causing disruptions,” he said.
