Vladimir Putin has boldly put on display US tanks and British armoured cars captured from Ukraine, sending a chilling message.

The Russian leader exhibited the captured vehicles in Moscow after seizing them from the frontline in Ukraine.

Dominating the captivating display under red banners that projected “Our victory is inevitable” was a British Saxon armoured personnel carrier, believed to have been gifted to Ukraine back in 2015. For a month, visitors can view an array of seized equipment including a Swedish CV90, an American Bradley tank, and a French-built armoured fighting vehicle known as the AMX-10RC.

To further commemorate his invasion of Ukraine, Putin plans to parade these armoured cars, with several donning US and British flags.

Scheduled for May 9, the grand display coincides with Moscow’s Red Square Victory Day Parade, an event held in honour of Russia’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

To complete the show of might, more gear including a Swedish CV90, an American Bradley tank, and a French-manufactured AMX-10RC armoured fighting vehicle will be displayed.

Last year, standing in front of the Kremlin on May 9, Putin delivered a passionate speech for ten full minutes, aggressively criticising “Western global elites” and claiming civilisation is at “a decisive turning point.”, reports the Mirror.

Ukraine, which suffered more territorial losses to Russia during World War Two than any other country, accuses Russia of exploiting their shared history to justify aggression.

This comes as Russia has lost as many tanks in the war in Ukraine as it had in its entire armed forces before Putin’s invasion. After Moscow’s initial attempt to quickly capture the capital, Kyiv, over 3,000 tanks have been damaged or destroyed in the two-year conflict.

A study by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) reveals that the Russian military is urgently increasing defence spending and shifting its economy towards a war footing to compensate for the shortage, while also replenishing the frontline from its strategic armour stockpiles.

This follows an incident where two police officers were killed by terrorists who attacked a police checkpoint in Russia’s North Caucasus region, according to authorities on Monday.

The regional office of Russia’s Interior Ministry reported that a late-night gunfight in the Karachay-Cherkessia region resulted in the death of all five attackers and left four additional officers injured.

The same gunmen had previously attacked another police checkpoint in the area a week earlier, killing two officers and injuring another, according to the nation’s leading state criminal investigation organisation, the Investigative Committee. The motivation or connection of the attackers was not clarified.
