WHAT: Thematic Knowledge Event 1 (Panel 2)
WHEN: Wed 27 May 2026 · 17:15–18:00 (45 min)
WHERE: Kintele International Conference Center, Brazzaville
Fragmented global markets, tight financial conditions, and shifting geopolitical alliances have underscored the importance of robust, resilient, and inclusive domestic financial systems. For Africa to mobilize capital at scale and assert greater control over its development trajectory, it must strengthen and consolidate its financial institutions, markets, and regulatory frameworks, while deepening regional financial integration and innovation.
In this key knowledge session of the African Development Bank’s 2026 Annual meetings, heads of financial institutions, financial supervisory and regulatory agencies from Africa and across the globe, will interrogate the findings of the thematic chapter of the flagship African Economic Outlook 2026 report which examines how Africa can reform and strengthen its financial architecture.
The debate will help to inform policy discourse on strengthening and consolidating Africa’s financial systems and agency to scale up the mobilization of development finance. It will also give an opportunity to the high-level participants and stakeholders to share their views on the relevance of the key findings and the soundness of policy recommendations contained in the thematic chapter of the AEO report, and to discuss practical solutions for deepening and integrating its financial institutions to mobilise development financing at scale.
