GRACYN… EXPLAIN THIS AREA TO US? A BURNED DOWN HOME ESCALATED TO TIRES BEING THROWN IN ITS YARD… THE TRASH NOW PILING INTO THE STREET. RESIDENTS JUST WANT THIS ISSUE TAKEN CARE OF. <REGINALD WASHINGTON, PROPERTY OWNER: “DISGUSTED, DISGUSTED.”> A PARTIALLY BURNED DOWN HOME…PILED UP TIRES….AND OTHER TRASH INCLUDING AN OLD TELEVISION… CREATING AN UNPLEASANT VIEW FOR MONTHS ON HUME STREET. <KENNETH STOKES, JACKSON CITY COUNCIL MEMBER: “WE MUST CLEAN THIS UP.”> THIS A SHORT WALKING DISTANCE FROM WALTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ON BAILEY AVENUE. THESE CHILDREN HAVING TO SEE THIS EVERY DAY ON THEIR WAY HOME FROM CLASS. <KENNETH STOKES, JACKSON CITY COUNCIL MEMBER: “HOW CAN A CHILD GO TO SCHOOL FEELING LIKE ANYTHING BUT A SECOND CLASS CITIZEN?”> ONE RESIDENT OWNS THREE HOMES NEAR THE SITE. Jackson City Councilman Kenneth Stokes wants a neighborhood eyesore dealt with.A home on Hume Street off Bailey Avenue partially burned down, and neighbors said there has been an unpleasant view for months.People have been dumping tires, trash and other things at the site.The home is a short distance from Walton Elementary School.”How can a child go to school feeling like anything but a second-class citizen?” Stokes said.One man owns three homes near the site and said it is difficult to rent the homes out.Property owner Reginald Washington said, “Once they see this pile of rubble and burned-out house, it’s hard to get people out to even view the houses.”Stokes is calling for the property to be cleaned up.
