Delhi Bandh Today: In a powerful gesture of solidarity and mourning, several major trade unions across Delhi have called for a complete shutdown of markets today, April 25, to honour the lives lost in the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. The tragic incident, which claimed 26 lives, has sparked grief and outrage across the nation.

As a mark of respect, prominent marketplaces in Delhi have downed their shutters for the day. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), one of the largest trader bodies in the country, has backed the call for the bandh and urged shopkeepers to voluntarily participate in this day of remembrance.

Which Markets Are Closed?

A number of Delhi’s commercial hubs have extended support to the bandh. Among the markets observing the shutdown are:

Khan Market, Bhagirath Place, Gandhi Nagar, Karol Bagh, Sadar Bazar, Rajouri Garden Marble Association, Khari Baoli, Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, Kashmere Gate, Green Park, Naya Bazar, Chawri Bazaar, Daryaganj, Meena Bazar, Mori Gate, Hauz Qazi, Matia Mahal, Hindustan Mercantile Chandni Chowk, Bullion Association, Nai Sadak, and Kirana Committee Khari Baoli

With shutters down in these bustling trade areas, the usually lively streets are expected to wear a somber look today.

What Will Remain Open?

Despite the widespread market participation, essential services and public infrastructure will continue to function normally. There has been no official directive from the Delhi government or police enforcing the bandh. As such banks, government offices, Delhi Metro, public transport will remain operational. Establishments that choose not to participate in the bandh are free to stay open.

J&K, Shimla Markets Observed Bandh

The Delhi bandh follows similar demonstrations in Jammu and Kashmir and shimla, where traders staged a protest and shut down businesses on April 23 and 24. These coordinated acts of civil protest are meant to condemn the brutal attack and express a united stand against terrorism.
