The Dow Jones Industrial Average was off 80 points, or 0.2%, to 40,816.
The S&P 500 was losing 0.3%, at 5,591, on track to end its longest winning streak in nine months.
The Nasdaq Composite was edging down 0.5%, to around 17,791. The tech-heavy index exited correction territory in the previous session, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
This week, investors are awaiting the Federal Reserve’s annual economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyo., where Chair Jerome Powell is expected to deliver remarks on Friday morning. Before then, traders will digest the payroll-data revision and minutes from the central bank’s July policy meeting on Wednesday.
