Pro Football Focus holds Bills’ Jordan Poyer in high regard

Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer wants to sign a new contract with the team. He even changed his agent this offseason and skipped out on voluntary workouts, signaling his seriousness on the matter.

Poyer might have good reason to want to do so. At least Pro Football Focus thinks so.

According to the football analytics out, Poyer rates as their best ever safety in one regard: Passer rating allowed in a single season.

PFF, which has been around since 2004, clocked Poyer as allowing a passer rating of 13.7 in 2021. That ranked as their best ever over one year:

For his efforts last season, Poyer was named an All-Pro. His contract is up after next season as well, so the clock is slightly ticking on the Bills. As of now, it appears the 31-year-old will play on his expiring contract, but the future remains unclear.

In total, Poyer notched 93 tackles, including eight for loss, three sacks, five interceptions and nine passes defended last season.

Another added nugget here for Buffalo: The team also holds the third slot. Da’Norris Searcy was on the Bills in 2014.
