The end of the 2022 regular season is here as the Kennesaw State softball team hosts a three-game series against the Jacksonville Dolphins with a bid to the ASUN Softball Championship at stake.

Senior Katie Greep will be honored prior to first pitch Saturday.

The Owls currently sit at the sixth seed heading into this weekend and can clinch a berth with two wins against the Dolphins. Only three spots in the tournament remain up for grabs after last weekend’s action.

Taylor Cates stands one home run short of the Kennesaw State single-season record of 16 entering the three-game tilt. During the Stetson series, Cates set the Owls’ single-season record with her fifth sacrifice fly of 2022. She makes her 150th career start for the Owls Thursday.

First baseman Brinaya Bailey has reached base in each of the last 19 games while pitcher Melanie Bennett has made an appearance in the last four games boasting a 3-0 record and one save.

KSU is riding a season-high four-game winning streak after sweeping the Stetson Hatters last weekend.

The series was originally scheduled for a doubleheader on Friday, May 6 followed by game three on Saturday, May 7 but was adjusted due to weather in the forecast for Friday.

Senior Katie Greep
Senior Katie Greep has been a stable in the Kennesaw State outfield since making 33 starts her freshman season. The Glendora, Calif. Native started and played in every game for KSU this season and is second among active KSU players with 140 career starts.

Greep helped the Owls to the 2021 NCAA Division I Tallahassee Regional where KSU secured its first Division I tournament victory, defeating the Auburn Tigers. She started center field in the game, contributing to the Owls’ shutout win only allowing one hit.

She has 123 career hits as an Owl with a .289 lifetime batting average. Greep was named to the 2019 ASUN All-Freshman team and is a two-time ASUN Player of the Week winner.
