United States stock markets will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will be closed Monday and reopen Tuesday, May 26. The U.S. bond market closed early at 2 p.m. ET on Friday, May 22, according to the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, and will remain closed on Memorial Day.
According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Memorial Day is the “nation’s foremost annual day to mourn and honor its deceased service men and women.” The holiday commemorates those who have died while serving in the U.S. military.
After shuttering for Memorial Day, it will be business as usual on Wall Street until mid-June. The next scheduled stock market closure is on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.
