White House to weigh Burrus Ridge plan to build nearly 1,000 homes

A national home builder is seeking to build 959 single-family homes in White House on land that has had other development proposals in the past.

Burrus Ridge is the name being used for the plan on about 412 acres, west of White House Heritage High School on the south side of Highway 76.

The White House Board of Mayor and Aldermen will need to approve rezoning being requested on behalf of Lennar Homes.

Burrus Ridge went before the White House planning commission in April, but the plan was deferred until June 13. Traffic was among the concerns expressed by residents during the public hearing on the project, White House Planning and Codes Director Ceagus Clark said.

A community meeting with development representatives is scheduled for May 9, in the auditorium at City Hall.
