SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas (KLTV) – Three men were arrested in Georgia Wednesday after Hopkins County deputies said they stole credit cards from a person in a Sulphur Springs park.
Cristopher Alejandro Orellana Pavez, Richardo Alejandro Bernales-Navarro and Pablo Joaquin Salazar-Troncoso were held Thursday at the Coweta County Jail in Newnan, Georgia, on warrants charging them with engaging in organized criminal activity, Hopkins County Chief Investigator Michael Russell wrote in a press release.
On May 31, Hopkins County detectives were contacted regarding three credit cards that were stolen in Coleman Park. The owner of the cards told detectives that the cards were used later that day at Walmart, Russell wrote.
The next day, Walmart loss prevention contacted law enforcement and provided surveillance video and transaction receipts showing fraudulent purchases that totaled $4,239.98 for gift cards and other merchandise, the chief investigator wrote.
Video reportedly showed three men making purchases before leaving the store, and surveillance footage from neighboring businesses helped identify a gray Toyota Highlander SUV linked to a Maryland registration for Pavez, who was identified by his driver’s license photo as one of the men seen in the videos, Russell wrote.
On Wednesday, the vehicle was stopped in Coweta County, Georgia, and law enforcement confirmed all three men were in the SUV and the identities of Bernales-Navarro and Salazar-Troncoso, Russell wrote.
Clothes matching those worn by the men during the Hopkins County theft were found in the SUV, the chief investigator wrote.
It is unclear if the men will be extradited. A Hopkins County jail administrator said she could not provide additional information.
