Dykema announced that Jacobus “Jake” Vollebregt has joined the firm as Senior Counsel in its Corporate Finance and Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Groups. He will be based in the firm’s San Antonio office.
Vollebregt joins Dykema from Quadrant Law Group, where he served as a partner advising clients on commercial transactions, data privacy and cybersecurity matters, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management.
His practice spans industries including finance, technology, real estate, healthcare, education, and critical infrastructure. He advises organizations on complex commercial agreements, compliance and data protection programs, enterprise risk management, and evolving regulatory requirements.
A Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), Vollebregt has experience counseling banks, financial institutions, and technology companies on privacy, cybersecurity, information governance, cyber resilience, incident response, and cross-border data transfers. He also advises clients on emerging issues involving artificial intelligence governance and enterprise information security.
Prior to entering private practice, Vollebregt served as a judge advocate and intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he worked on legal and operational issues involving information security, investigations, compliance, and risk assessment.
His experience also includes advising clients on government contracting, taxation, corporate governance, real estate development, investigations, and litigation management.
Outside the firm, Vollebregt serves on the board of the FBI InfraGard San Antonio Members Alliance and is a member of the Cybersecurity Council for the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce.
Vollebregt earned his J.D., along with a Certificate in Taxation, from Chapman University Fowler School of Law. He also holds a master’s degree in Strategic Intelligence from National Intelligence University and a bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga University.
