XRP Commodity Status Drives ETF Growth and Institutional Adoption in 2026 – News and Statistics

Government regulators have officially classified XRP as a commodity. This information was reported by Yahoo Finance.

New Investment Products for XRP

The designation of XRP as a digital commodity is expected to facilitate the creation of new financial products by Wall Street firms. These products include exchange-traded funds aimed at institutional investors. The first spot XRP ETF began trading in September. By the end of that year, six additional spot XRP ETFs had launched, attracting over one billion dollars in investor inflows. Given this initial performance, further products, such as leveraged ETFs, are anticipated. The involvement of major financial firms could enhance the mainstream acceptance of XRP.

Institutional Adoption of XRP

The regulatory clarity is also likely to accelerate institutional use of XRP. The XRP blockchain ledger is recognized for providing a lower-cost and faster method for cross-border transactions. Previously, regulatory uncertainty surrounded Ripple, the company associated with the XRP token, largely due to a lawsuit initiated against it in 2020. Financial institutions have sought blockchain payment solutions while avoiding regulatory complications. The commodity classification is expected to resolve these concerns. Ripple has reportedly conducted three billion dollars in related transactions since 2023, with an aim to build a global payment system centered on XRP. Increased usage of the XRP ledger is viewed as a factor that could increase the token’s value.
