MINNEAPOLIS, MN., — Everyone can breathe and relax for the third straight week. After trailing at some point in the fourth quarter, the Chicago Bears got a comeback win and found a way to get the job done, even after leading by 13 points with a little over two minutes to go in the third quarter.
Winning close ball games in a way that only the Ben Johnson-led Bears could do has made this season fun. The special teams unit kept everyone on the edge of their seats until the very end of the game. Five field goal attempts and one rushing touchdown were enough to get the job done. The defense aided in slowing down J.J. McCarthy with two easy interceptions, and suddenly, for the first time since week 18 of the 2024 regular season, the Bears have their first divisional win.
This game showed a little bit of everything with the Bears. Second-year quarterback Caleb Williams is continuing to grow as a quarterback, and on offense, it’s never about how you start but how you finish. The Bears special teams isn’t perfect by any means, and it’s led to a lot of conversations about what potential changes Johnson could make during the upcoming offseason, but this is a unit that has made plays when it matters most.
Ten games in, the Bears have established that this roster isn’t perfect by any means and that major holes still exist. Young players like Kyle Monangai, Colston Loveland, and Luther Burden III keep making plays each week, proving that the future appears to be really bright for Chicago.
At this point, any team playing the Bears, no matter how good they actually are, will have to realize that playing Chicago each week means entering into a heavyweight fight that won’t be over until the final horn sounds.
Let’s get into some instant takeaways following another Bears win.
