THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Customs officers seized gold bars weighing 474.59 grams worth Rs 33 lakh from two passengers in two different instances on Saturday and Sunday.
In the first instance on Saturday, 166.60 grams of gold worth Rs 11.60 lakh were seized from a passenger who arrived here from Dammam. In the second incident on Sunday, 307.99 grams of gold worth Rs 21.34 lakh were seized from another passenger who also arrived from Dammam.
The gold in biscuit and coin forms were concealed inside the undergarments of the passengers. On April 27, air customs had seized 1.48 kg gold worth Rs 1.5 crore from a passenger, who came from Sharjah. The gold was concealed inside his underwear, and it was in powder form.
