London-based lender has a significant presence in the Irish market, previously selling car loans through Finance Ireland

Close Brothers, a London-based merchant bank which provides car finance loans in Ireland and Britain, is being investigated by the British financial services regulator over allegations it mis-sold car loans to customers for over a decade.

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the British regulator, recently said it would review car finance loans made before 2021 amid complaints of mis-selling, which could result in millions of customers being eligible for compensation. The regulator is also weighing …
