Celtic have sent quite a few of their players out on loan in recent times. Just in the winter transfer window, we saw Kwon Hyeok-kyu join St Mirren, Marco Tilio return to Melbourne City FC and Mikey Johnston make the move south to West Bromwich Albion. Adam Montgomery had departed on a temporary basis to Motherwell as well but has since returned to Parkhead after suffering an injury.

The likes of Yuki Kobayashi and Liel Abada have been linked with potential loan exits in recent times as well. But another player has completed one before the first-team duo.

As tweeted by the Celtic FC B account, Josh Clarke has joined Scottish Championship side Ayr United on loan. He will be there for the rest of the season.

Ayr United are managed by Scott Brown, who recently took charge of the Championship side, after he was shown the exit door by Fleetwood Town earlier on in the campaign. So, Clarke will get a chance to work with the Celtic legend and hopefully, the experience will be beneficial for him in the long run.

Celtic will be looking for a new number one next summer, with Joe Hart set to retire from the game. There is very little chance of Clarke getting that role, no matter how well he does at Ayr United.

Clarke could make a backup role his own though, if he is able to impress at Ayr United. Benjamin Siegrist is expected to leave in the summer, having failed to establish himself at Parkhead. On the other hand, Scott Bain is also in the final few months of his contract.

It remains to be seen how things play out for Clarke at Ayr United. We can only wish him the best of luck and hope he has a good loan spell.
