A Fountain Hills man who was charged three times in as many months with cryptocurrency scams has pleaded guilty.
Court records show that Jeremie Sowerby pleaded guilty to wire fraud and he is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on Oct. 14.
In 2023, Sowerby was indicted for money laundering and fraud three times within 90 days. Cryptocurrency was part of each case.
His plea agreement says hundreds of people were defrauded and they lost millions of dollars due to scams Sowerby took part in.
The agreement also says prosecutors could prove the scams went back as far as 2017. Sowerby is set to pay up to $30 million in restitution.
