“The Swissquote Investment Day is the most unique financial event in Luxembourg, where brilliant financial insights are shared and where professional and individual investors can socialise with other like-minded individuals,” , head of direct investment at Swissquote Bank Europe, said in a press statement on 15 February. “This 2024 edition of the Swissquote Investment Day will see us welcome to Luxembourg a most exciting lineup of international financial personalities and experts. We are looking forward to an event filled with engaging presentations and candid conversations about the investing environment of today and tomorrow, that anyone with a passion for investing will not want to miss.”

With one month to go before another edition of Swissquote Investment Day, Lauret was understandably enthusiastic. The line-up for this year’s event includes some of the world’s leading figures.

Linda Yueh, an economist whose CV includes stints at Oxford and London Business School. Her latest book, “The Great Crashes: Lessons from Global Meltdowns and How to Prevent Them”, was selected by the Financial Times as one of the best new books in economics. Her ability to decipher global economic crises and draw lessons from them to prevent future financial disasters has made her a leading voice in the field of global economics.

Shlomo Benartzi, co-creator of the Smart programme, has revolutionised the way we think about saving for retirement, using principles of behavioural economics to encourage better and smarter saving habits. His work with Nobel laureate Richard Thaler has had a direct impact on the financial lives of millions of people, making him a key player in the intersection of psychology and finance. Benartzi is professor emeritus at the UCLA Anderson School of Management in Los Angeles.

Andrew Hallam is an author who has challenged the status quo of personal financial education who has written the best-selling books “Balance: How to Invest and Spend for Happiness, Health and Wealth”; “Millionaire Teacher: The Nine Rules of Wealth You Should Have Learned in School” and “Millionaire Expat: How To Build Wealth Living Overseas”. A former teacher, he has a gift for making investing accessible to all, debunking the myths surrounding wealth building and sharing simple but profoundly effective rules for achieving financial independence.

– As for Candi Carrera, her transition from country manager at Microsoft Luxembourg to passionate educator and value investor is an inspiring story in itself. Her determination to teach the principles of value investing and help people achieve financial independence echoes a career dedicated to empowerment through knowledge.

This will be a unique opportunity for participants–including the general public–to grasp market trends, with forecasts from specialists at Amundi, Blackrock and Wisdomtree, and to understand the elements that characterise a good forecast, a theme introduced by the master of ceremonies, Tim Harford, columnist at the Financial Times and author of “Undercover Economist”.

As part of the conference, Swissquote is also organising its first “Swissquote Wall Street Movie Week” with investment-related film highlights.

The programme

12 March: an educational and networking session, in partnership with the British Chamber of Commerce, will focus on how investors can build a better financial future for themselves by focusing on the investment factors they can control.

On 12, 13 and 15 March, film buffs will be treated to special screenings at Kinepolis Kirchberg of “Wall Street”, “Dumb Money” and “The Big Short” as part of the inaugural Swissquote Wall Street Movie Week.
