Stock market LIVE updates on March 11, 2024: Benchmark indices gave up early gains to trade lower in Monday’s intraday trade amid wobbly global cues. The S&P BSE Sensex fell over 300 points to quote around 73,750 levels. The Nifty50, on the other hand, was testing 22,400.
The fall aggravated especially after the Supreme Court directed the State Bank of India (SBI) to fetch details of electoral bonds by Tuesday, March 12. Shares of SBI fell over 1 per cent. Meanwhile, Tata Steel, Power Grid, Tata Power, IndusInd Bank, NTPC, HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank, L&T, Infosys, and ICICI Bank were the other top laggards.
In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap index slipped 0.15 per cent, while the BSE SmallCap index edged 1.5 per cent lower.
Among sectors, all but the Nifty FMCG, Pharma, and PSU Bank indices were under pressure, down up to 0.8 per cent.
