Police are investigating a ‘wilful’ fire attack after a car was set alight outside a home in Newton Mearns.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service put out the blaze after 999 calls around 12.40am on Saturday (July 4), reports STV News.
There were no reported injuries at the property on Broomcroft Road.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information can call reference 0164 of 4 July.”
It follows several separate incidents this week, including a 24-hour period when two cars were torched in Rutherglen and Cambuslang.
The first car was stolen from a family home in the Cathkin area on Monday afternoon. The vehicle was set on fire, with charred remains dumped two streets away at Springhall Court in Rutherglen.
A second attack took place outside Whitlawburn Towers in Cambuslang. A parked Volkswagen was petrol bombed at 2am in the early hours of Tuesday. Dramatic footage taken outside the property shows flames engulfing the vehicle.
No one was injured during both incidents.
