Dallas-based asset manager Barrow Hanley is making its US Mid Cap Value Equity fund available to UK investors for the first time.
The strategy aims to find mispriced mid-sized companies that are overlooked by most market analysts.
It has made an annualised net return of 8.1% over the past decade through this approach, beating its Russell Midcap Value benchmark index by 0.5 percentage points.
Mark Giambrone, head of US equities and portfolio manager at Barrow Hanley, said: “We are excited to bring our US Mid Cap Value Equity fund to the UK market. Our strategy is built on a foundation of rigorous fundamental research and a commitment to identifying undervalued companies with strong potential for growth.
“We believe that mid-cap stocks offer a unique sweet spot in terms of risk and return, and we look forward to helping UK investors achieve their financial goals through this fund.”
The fund’s highest sectoral allocations are financials (accounting for 17.6% of the portfolio), industrials (15.9%) and utilities (13.4%), with its top holdings in the likes of CenterPoint Energy, Entergy Corporation and SLM Corp.
Warren Tonkinson, head of international distribution at Perpetual, added: “Through our established distribution presence in the UK, we are delighted to introduce Barrow Hanley, one of the few remaining firms dedicated exclusively to value investing, and their US Mid Cap Value Equity fund to this region.
“Our team is committed to providing UK investors with access to our value-driven investment solutions. This fund is designed to offer diversification and attractive risk-adjusted returns offering investors a greater ability to emerge from significant market downturns stronger.”
Barrow Hanley currently manages $52bn in assets under management and employs a staff of 98, including 57 investment professionals.
