PORT NECHES — A woman is charged with a crime many may find hard to imagine–allegedly stealing a debit card from an elderly friend while she was hospitalized and then ripping her off for $320, according to a probable cause affidavit KFDM News obtained from Magistrate Marc DeRouen.
Rachel Nicole Langham, 46, is charged with five counts of Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse of the Elderly. If convicted of the 3rd degree felony, she could face 2-10 years and prison and up to a $10,000 fine. Langham posted bond and was released from jail.
The affidavit indicates that on January 15, a Port Neches Police Department officer responded to a call from an apartment on Ridgewood Drive and a report of debit card abuse.
The officer spoke with the victim who was 70 years old at the time. She said a friend, identified as Rachel Langham, had stolen her Gulf Credit Union Debit card while she was in the hospital between December 31, 2025 and January 6, 2026.
The woman said Langham used it to take money from her checking account without permission. explaining that she later discovered two ATM withdrawals were made at MCT Credit Union, both in the amount of $160.00, totaling $320.

According to the affidavit, further investigation revealed security footage showing Rachel Langham using the Gulf Credit Union card at MCT Credit Union and withdrawing $160 twice, totaling the $320. At the time of the offense, the victim was 70, leading to the charge of Credit of Debit Card Abuse of the Elderly.
