On 22 April, the Council of Ministers, upon a proposal by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, approved the 2026 Public Finance Document, which has been submitted to Parliament and to the Presidency of the Republic.
As provided for under the new European economic governance framework, the document focuses on reporting on compliance with the commitments undertaken in the Medium-Term Structural Budget Plan (MTSBP) with regard to 2025. It has been prepared in an international context marked by exceptional complexity as a result of an exogenous shock linked to geopolitical factors, the scale and duration of which remain highly uncertain.
