COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A 37-year-old man from Bedias in Grimes County faces charges after officers say they found more than 20 stolen credit cards and identification documents during a traffic stop.
Joseph Samuel Hall was detained in the back parking area of a business on Harvey Road and consented to a search of the vehicle before the arrest.
During a vehicle inventory, officers reported finding a sandwich bag in the center console containing numerous credit and debit cards.
Officers documented 22 items containing personal information belonging to 10 people. The items included credit cards, debit cards, driver’s licenses, and an insurance card.
Officers found 10 cards belonging to one person, but were unable to reach that person for comment. The other victims, whom police officers were able to get into contact with, said that Hall did not have permission to use their cards. An additional 14 cards with no names were also found.
A friend who arrived to take possession of Hall’s vehicle said Hall frequently searched dumpsters for items, according to an arrest report.
Hall has prior arrests for theft, burglary, and possession of identifying information, according to records.
Hall was arrested Sunday and remains in jail with a bond set at $15,000.
