IHG has launched a free UK debit card in partnership with digital bank Revolut in a bid to “bring maximum value to everyday spend” for its loyalty scheme members.
The initiative offers a two-tiered loyalty scheme. The entry tier offers users a no-annual fee debit card which will earn one point for every pound spend across IHG’s 7,000 hotels and resorts, and half a point for all other transactions.
Points can be redeemed on future IHG visits, with perks provided for accumulated point including room upgrades, early check-in, reward night discounts and more.
The second tier of the scheme includes a £18-per-month debit card, which allows users to redeem six points for every pound spent in IHG outposts, and up to 3 points for other transactions.
Both cards are supported by Visa’s payments network.
IHG Hotel and Resorts global loyalty and partnerships senior vice president Paul Proctor said: “This is a first for IHG in the UK – and a game-changer for our members. By bringing together IHG One Rewards, Revolut, and Visa, we’re giving our members more ways to earn IHG rewards from every card tap, whether that’s their morning coffee or their next hotel stay.
“With 21 brands globally and Revolut’s borderless financial platform, we’re building a smarter, more rewarding journey for today’s globally minded traveller.”
Revolut’s premium general manager Tara Massoudi added: “At Revolut, we are always looking to provide tailored financial experiences that bring maximum value to everyday spend.
“This partnership will make it effortless for IHG One Rewards members to turn ordinary taps of their card into premium hotel perks, elite status, and unforgettable stays, all powered by Revolut.”
