The Maine Wildlife Park has been around since the late 90s, but for the 2026 season, there are some notable changes.
The park in Gray, which is home to 30 Maine wildlife species, has already opened as of Wednesday, April 15, but if you haven’t visited in a while, you might be surprised by what’s new.
Here’s what you should know before you go check out all the animals.
Maine Wildlife Park in Gray Accepts Credit Cards
One major change the Maine Wildlife Park revealed in a Facebook post is allowing credit cards to pay for entry.
The park used to only accept cash and checks, so if your wallet was empty of dollar bills, you’d have to run to the ATM to get in.
Taking my kids to the park last year, I didn’t realize it was cash only and expected to use a card, only to be met with panic that the plastic was not an option. Yes, luckily, there was an ATM, but it’s exciting knowing that now there’s one more way to pay.
You Can Buy Online Passes to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray
Another new change the Maine Wildlife Park shared is the ability to purchase passes online.
You can get season passes either to pick up or ship, and there’s the option to get a single-use day pass electronically.
Again, a great addition of more options when it comes to getting into the park.
New Animal at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray
During your next visit, be on the lookout for the newest animal at the Maine Wildlife Park: a bobcat.
The park hasn’t named her yet, but is looking for suggestions on social media.
This new friend comes on the heels of some of the fresh additions from recent years, such as the spotted turtle, opossum, and the black vulture.
There are a bunch of animals to see at the park, and who knows what new ones will come next year?
