Browne played with both Collingwood and the Fitzroy Lions in the 1980s.
He’s brother to Magpies’ president Jeff Browne and the father of ex-Essendon midfielder Alex Browne.
Browne has also served as the Collingwood Past Players Association’s president and as the AFL Players Association’s past player director.
Industry sources indicated the Browne’s three-bedroom home at 1/15 Marshall Ave was previously rented to AFL commentator Kane Cornes as well.
The villa is close to Victoria Park, tram routes, parks, ovals and to Kew’s High St.

The residence was scheduled to go under the hammer yesterday but ended up selling before the auction.
Jellis Craig’s Patrick Dennis said the home’s new owner had purchased with plans for his two adult children to live there.
Mr Dennis said the property was well-attended during its marketing campaign.
“We had an offer which triggered pre-auction negotiations and we ended up going back and forth, mainly between two buyers,” he said.
Browne was delighted by the sale of the villa, where he and Lisa had lived before putting it up for lease.
“He joked and said he’d buy me a parma at the Sorrento Hotel,” Mr Dennis added.

Another Kew home that due to go under the hammer on Saturday but ended up having a change of plans was Queensland State of Origin captain and Melbourne Storm Cameron Munster and wife Bianca’s house.
Rather than heading under the hammer, the five-bedroom pad is now advertised for private sale with a $2.65m price tag.
Jellis Craig Boroondara’s Mark Salvati has the listing.
