Crews from across Cumbria were called to the incident at Sinkfall Skip Hire and Recycling on Rakesmoor Lane just before 10pm on Friday, July 31.
As the emergency response was conducted, a section of Park Road was closed at around 10.30pm and did not fully reopen until the early hours of Sunday, August 2.
A spokesperson from Sinkfall said: “Following Friday night’s horrific incident, we would just like to reassure all our customers that all services will resume [on August 3].
“However, we do ask for patience over the next few days when trying to contact us as all communication lines will need restoring.
“Thank you for your continued support and understanding.”
Crews discovered a large building fully engulfed in flames with contents including farm machinery and cardboard waste bales, as well as the office section of the premises.
Whilst some firefighters were released early on Saturday morning (August 1), others remained at the scene to ensure that the blaze was completely extinguished.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) confirmed that 10 fire engines and 60 crew members attended at the height of the incident.
A representative from Bootle Fire Station commented: “C41 Bootle, along with 10 other pumping appliances, one turn table ladder, and two water bowsers from around the county were mobilised to reports of a large building fire on a commercial property in Barrow.
“Multiple jets, the cannon on the turn table ladder, and two breathing apparatuses were used throughout the night to tackle the blaze as well as utilising all the attending appliance for a water relay to supply water to the fire ground due to the lack of hydrants.”
At the time of writing, the cause of the fire is still unknown and no injuries have been reported.
Residents in Barrow were advised to keep their windows closed throughout the incident to minimise smoke inhalation.
This was the second time last week that such a warning was issued after a fire at Salthouse Mills on Monday, July 27.
