AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – The 2026 annual notices of assessment for real estate and personal property have been mailed to property owners in Augusta.
The notice is not a tax bill. It shows the assessed value placed on a property for the 2026 tax year and includes information about exemptions and the right to appeal.
Property owners have 45 days from the date the notice was mailed to file an appeal or apply for a homestead exemption. For notices mailed June 29, the deadline is Aug. 13.
This year’s notice reflects two key updates:
NEW NOTICE FORMAT
Georgia Senate Bill 566 changed the required statewide format. The updated notice replaces the previous tax estimate tables with an “estimated tax savings” section and includes appeal and exemption instructions.
LOCAL FLOATING HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION
The notice also reflects Augusta’s local floating homestead exemption, which is intended to provide property tax relieffor qualifying primary residences by limiting certain increases in assessed value.
What to do next
Property owners may review their information and file an appeal online at augustarichmondtaxassessor.com through the “property search” tool. Appeals may also be submitted by mail, email or in person.
